Ondrej Kolar will not be available, as he has problems with his cervical spine. However, that won’t be such a problem as Ales Mandous is the clear number one to start the season.
A much more noticeable loss is Ondrej Lingr. After the Slovácko game, he has a big swelling on his ankle that will keep him out of the game.
“Ondra, even if he doesn’t start in the starting line-up, is a player I can rely on 100%. He is one of the 5-6 most important players for me. I don’t like games when he is not available. We consulted on Tuesday, but the chances were minimal. The swelling on the ankle is big. It’s abig loss for us, either as a sub or as a centre back or as a substitute,” said coach Jindřich Trpišovský at the press conference.
Another absentee is stopper Eduardo Santos, who has problems with his adductor. These players did not travel to Turkey, but Lukáš Provod, who needs more time to recover after a long-term injury and is not yet able to play in matches in such quick succession, will not start.
“On Tuesday he did not train with the team, he had a regeneration training. He needs a longer period of time for his body to give up. He also definitely has problems, regarding the pain he has to overcome. If he was playing on Wednesday, he wouldn’t be playing for sure. He will be ready for the game, but more as a substitute,” said the coach of Slavia about Provoda.
There was also a question about whether Holeš will be used as a stopper in the absence of Santos, but Trpišovský suggested that he would rather play in the middle of the field. The Ousou – Kacharaba duo will probably start in the midfield.
Trpišovský has a big choice on both ends of the defence, on the left side he is choosing from the pair of Oscar – Jurásek. However, the Liberian back is out sick, so we can expect Jurásek to be deployed.
The coach can use Doudéra, Masopust and Schranz at right back. Douděra was a regular in the season opener, but in the last two games against Teplice and Slovácko he sat only on the bench, Schranz and Masopust came in.
The duo Holeš – Ševčík can be expected in the centre of the midfield again and could be joined by Ibrahim Traoré, who is good in cup matches.
Peter Olayinka is likely to start on the left wing, while Schranz and Moses Usor are available on the other wing. It’s not unrealistic to leave out the 26-year-old Nigerian, who is not exactly in form.
Stanislav Tecl, who has been in great form lately, should start at the top of the attack.
