Winning the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and Euro U21 at 21? Cole Palmer has actually done it all. Who is the English talent that Guardiola is developing?
If a player like Harry Kane doesn’t have a team trophy in his collection yet, Cole Palmer has a really nice showcase for having played only 38 games for Manchester City. He also has a new signing in the Euro U21 final that ended on Saturday.
If a player like Harry Kane doesn’t have a team trophy in his collection yet, Cole Palmer has a really nice showcase for having played only 38 games for Manchester City. He also has a new signing in the Euro U21 final that ended on Saturday.
Palmer pitched in 25 games last season, notching one goal and one assist. Most of the time, however, Pep Guardiola only sent him on the pitch for a few minutes, so he played a total of 850 minutes.
But it’s a different story in the England U21 national team, as he has been one of the key figures in Albion’s success. In the semi-final against Israel, he was involved in all three goals and assisted Curtis Jones’ decisive goal in the final.
Thanks to that, he was able to celebrate with his teammates on Saturday night their fourth title of the season. In addition to winning the U21 Euros, he and the Citizens dominated the Premier League, the Champions League and the FA Cup.
But it was not the first big league win for Palmer, after two winning seasons in 2020/21 and 2021/22 with Manchester City U21, he has already signed for the 2021/22 Premier League title. To make it complete, he will also win the League Cup with the Citizens in 2021.
This year, Guardiola hasn’t let the Manchester City offspring go anywhere and has spent the entire season with the A-team. Of course, whether this will be the case next season is unknown, as there is talk in the English media about guest appearances at RB Leipzig, West Ham and also Brighton.
the 189 cm tall midfielder has a lot of talent and the question is whether it will be better for him to go to another club where he will play regularly or whether he will decide to continue to collect minutes in the Citizens A-team, which is packed with stars.
However, his staying is quite realistic when players like Riyad Mahrez (32 years old) and Kevin De Bruyne (32 years old) are already at an advanced age, so in case of injury, a skilful player like Palmer could come in handy.
