Wimbledon to allow more fans, finals may sell out

The UK may move up in spectator attendance at sports matches and tournaments thanks to the improving pandemic situation. And the third Grand Slam of this tennis season, Wimbledon, will be no exception. The players return to the All England Club after a year’s break.

There’s never enough positive news. And after the French Open, where the players had the support of the crowd except for the night session, the spectators will enjoy the best tennis on grass.

The London tennis club, one of the most famous in the world, will be able to hold up to 50% of its capacity. That should mean just under 20,000 fans.

And to make matters worse, a full capacity of 14,979 spectators should be able to get onto Centre Court for the final.

They watched the incredible climax of the 133rd edition between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer two years ago, which ended in a tiebreak at 12::12 in the decisive fifth set. Among the women, Romania’s Halep literally demolished Serena Williams twice 6::2.

The Czech Republic also defends one trophy from the last edition. Barbora Strýcová won the women’s doubles with her former partner from Taiwan, Sie Su-wei. This year, Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova can follow her lead as they enter the tournament as the top seeds.

The club, where there are 40 courts and Wimbledon has been played here since 1877, has plenty of good news and the atmosphere will be great as usual.
