Haas, Red Bull, Aston Martin, McLaren, Alpha Tauri and Williams – these are the teams that have already revealed the design of their new monoblocks, or colour combinations, for the 2022 season. However, Jost Capito also spoke about the team’s new sponsor, Duracell.
This is how the Williams Racing stable unveiled the new FW44 car. It should be noted that in terms of technical parameters, even the Williams monoparts at the start of the first grand prix will be quite different from what we can see now. Why?
Because all the teams will keep their biggest weapons to themselves until the last possible moment, and at the moment it is more of a marketing move with the intention of introducing new sponsors and shining with social media posts where this and other brands will be seen by millions of fans around the world.
And it is Williams’ new sponsor, Duracell, that will feature prominently not only on the car but also on the drivers’ overalls.
“I’m proud to be associated with Duracell and I’m also grateful for the trust that the company has placed in us, ” said stable boss Jost Capito, quoted by Motorsport, at the presentation of the new sponsor.
“Their name on the side of our car is a personal thing for me, as I have been nicknamed Duracell for 30 years, as I never run out of energy. I’m looking forward to working with them,” he explained.
Duracell, which is now part of the multinational conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway, is also the latest North American sponsor to get involved in F1.
But the more serious question is whether Williams can be a slightly more competitive team again. All in all, the British team is on the right track. But the next question is how drivers Nicholas Latifi and Alexander Albon will handle the ever-increasing pressure.
The Canadian driver was the team’s number two driver last season, while the latter even had a one-year break from Formula 1, at least in terms of racing and qualifying.
