The UFC has had a great gala with an excellent main event. Islam Makhachev defeated Alexander Volkanovsky on points. But he disagrees with the result and he’s not alone. So a possible rematch is on the table, and neither fighter is defending it.

Islam Makhachev vs. Alexander Volkanovski. The main event of UFC 284 and one of the biggest fights in the history of world MMA. Two fighters with incredible records, two champions, two big stars.

Makhachev was quite a big favorite, however Volkanovski did his best to not only survive or resist, but to win. In his opponent’s match, the Australian surprised with how well prepared he was not only in terms of strength but also wrestling.

Volkanovski made a huge impression, he had fun with the match, put on a great show, was calm in difficult situations and on the contrary managed to get Makhachev into trouble himself. However, despite all that, he lost in a close duel on points.

However, Verdict MMA server scored the fight differently than the referee. Everyone saw Makhachev winning, however the aforementioned stats server sees Volkanovsky as a very close winner. He should have won the second, third and fifth rounds.

And Volkanovski himself sees it the same way, accepting the loss sportingly at first, even though he was disappointed that he did not win. The man who lost the top spot in the P4P rankings was very quick to watch the footage of the match and share his impressions.

“I think I won the second, third and fifth rounds. I’m surprised my hand wasn’t raised. Let’s do a rematch. Anywhere, anytime,” let the still reigning featherweight champion be heard.

His opponent responded to the Australian’s statement ironically. According to him, Volkanovski won only the last minute in the whole fight. However, the fact is that before his statement he revealed on social media that he will definitely not fight back.

First of all, Makhachev admitted that Volkanovski was his toughest opponent so far, which really tested him properly. Even in the cage after the win, he made no secret that he didn’t expect such a tough fight, but that this is exactly what he needs if he is to improve.

In an interview with Niko Pajarillo afterwards, he agreed to the rematch. “Why not? Let’s do it. If they want to, let’s do it,” the lightweight champion let it be heard.
