West Ham have long been trying to bring in a striker who would be able to pull the team together in terms of goals. However, these efforts have been failing for a long time and all Hammers fans believe that the possible arrival of Mohammed Kudus could definitely change that.

Last Premier League season, West Ham scored just 42 goals. While we’re not talking about any attacking team here, that number is still very low when we’re talking about a team with top ten ambitions.

Last year’s top scorers were Jarrod Bowen (6 goals) and Said Benrahma (6 goals). The third best scorer was a classic striker in Mikhail Antonio, who scored 5 goals.

David Moyes could have strengthened the team significantly this summer thanks to the sale of Declan Rice, but he has not brought in a striker yet. The 23-year-old striker, who according to the English media already has one foot in London, could change that.

However, Kudus is not a pure striker you put on the spearhead and expect him to score goal after goal. At Ajax he rotates most often in the CAM, RW, ST positions. So this versatility is a big advantage for any coach who gets a Ghanaian player in his team.

The Accra native played 42 games last season and scored 18 goals, assisting 7 more. The very fast footballer, whose preferred foot is the left, has also made 24 starts in the Ghana national jersey, scoring 7 goals in the process.

Will Kudus drag West Ham into goals?

Kudus has all the ingredients to shoot his way to one of Europe’s top clubs. It’s widely expected that West Ham should only be a transfer station, which is certainly what Hammers fans would like to see. It would mean the fact that he will be successful.

But even more beneficial for Moyes would be his versatility, as mentioned above, as he could use Kudus in different positions as needed.

According to Whoscored’s stats, it is clear that whether he starts on the wing or on the tip, he is regularly one of the best players on the pitch. The question now is whether West Ham will actually complete the transfer and whether he will be suited to the Premier League and the Scottish coach’s style of play, which many players are bemoaning.
