Will Šilhavý continue to coach the national team? According to chairman Fousek, it depends on the March qualification
From the Czech national football team’s point of view, the Euro was quite successful, they advanced from third place in the group and then won against the Netherlands in the eighth round. However, the performance has deteriorated so much since the Euros that coach Šilhavy’s team only made it through to the World Cup play-offs from the league.
From the Czech national football team’s point of view, the Euro was quite successful, they advanced from third place in the group and then won against the Netherlands in the eighth round. However, the performance has deteriorated so much since the Euros that coach Šilhavy’s team only made it through to the World Cup play-offs from the Nations League, as they were only third in their group, which can be considered a failure. What is the future of the coaching staff? Petr Fousek, president of the FAČR, answered that question.
The Euro was a success. It must be added, however, that the performances were not exceptional, for example, we remember the match with Scotland only in a good way, but the opponent was better and if it had not been for Tomáš Vaclík, everything could have been different.
After the Euro, however, there were really lacklustre performances. At the September meeting, coach Jaroslav Šilhavy’s team won against Belarus, lost to Belgium and drew with Ukraine.
The next meeting offered a draw with Wales and a win over Belarus, the last meeting a win over Kuwait and Estonia. But it has to be said that the performances were particularly bad.
The fans were not satisfied with the nominations, then with the line-ups and substitutions. Coach Šilhavy is quite conservative and often made quite unreasonable moves.
That’s why there was a debate about whether a new coach should come in while we still have a good selection. That hasn’t happened yet, which is also due to the fact that practically nobody knows who the new coach should be.
So what is the situation with his dismissal, which was indirectly hinted by Petr Fousek after the unsuccessful qualification? Not yet, but that may change.
“Although we approach the barrage with humility, our goal remains to qualify for Qatar. Jaroslav Šilhavy’s management team has an option. In case of success in March, he will lead the team in Qatar,” FAČR president Fousek told reporters at a press conference.
