Czech striker Patrik Schick is one of the mainstays of Bayer Leverkusen. He scored 24 goals in 27 games in the Bundesliga season before last and became its second top scorer.
In the 2022/23 season he was sidelined by injury for a long time. He continued to suffer from this problem during the season just gone, but he was on the pitch much more often. However, he was overshadowed by Victor Boniface, who was Leverkusen’s top scorer with 14 shots.
Schick started 20 league games and scored seven goals. He scored five more goals in nine starts in the Europa League, and also helped his team to a goal in the DFB Pokal, which Bayer eventually dominated to win the double.
In any case, Schick also contributed to Leverkusen’s incredible season, in which they lost only one game.
Moreover, the Czech cannonballer has a contract with the reigning champions until the end of June 2027, which makes speculation about his possible departure to Turkey, let’s say, very unlikely.
Schick to Besiktas?
This information was then shared on the X platform by the Werkself Xtra account. However, no other relevant source has reported on Schick’s possible transfer so far. Turkish media in the so-called cucumber season often publish speculations, which in many cases are not based on the truth.
Moreover, the 28-year-old Prague native recently stated in an interview that he is happy at Leverkusen.
Fans then rightly add on social media that from a sporting point of view, such a transfer doesn’t exactly make sense. Based on these reports, Besiktas are already at an advanced stage of negotiations with Bayer, with Schick set to be the replacement for Vincent Aboubakar.
