Will PSG finally have competition in France? If Marseille are bought by the Saudis, Zidane will lead them as coach

A big event may be on the way in France as the Saudis are interested in Marseille and would like to expand their empire after the successful takeover of Newcastle United. If that happens, Zinedine Zidane would be the new coach.

In the world of football, another possible sensation is emerging that could change the fate of one of the French football teams. The former Real Madrid coach has reportedly agreed to take over the club in his native Marseille.

There is one catch though, according to France Bleu, Zidane will only do so if the club is sold to the Saudis, who would of course bring in big investment, creating much needed competition for PSG in Ligue 1.

However, this dream has one catch, which is the club’s current owner Frank McCourt, who has made it known that the club is definitely not for sale. However, we have witnessed similar statements several times in the past and eventually the wealthy Saudis got their way.

The French newspaper then reported that Zidane is demanding a transfer budget of €300 million in order to bring in new signings to move the club up. He also wishes to have full control over the club’s transfer policy, which was reportedly also approved by the Saudis.

Ultimately, however, the decision will be up to Marseille’s owner. However, he could certainly be helped by the fans who would like to see their club in the Champions League. It could be a very similar situation to Newcastle, where the dissatisfaction of the fans has been longer term.

For now, though, Zidane remains uncommitted, having last managed Real Madrid, which he left at the end of the 2020/21 season.

the 51-year-old Frenchman already has a string of successes under his belt such as winning the Champions League three times in a row, which he also won alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and co. He has twice dominated La Liga with Real Madrid and has also twice been voted the best coach in the world.

His reputation precedes him and if we add to that the fact that he would be leading a club from his hometown to which he is fully committed, we would certainly expect great things from him!
