The thirty-three-year-old striker is now sorting out his future and is likely to return to familiar surroundings. The native of Sušice is in talks about his return to the Polish Legia Warsaw.
In the summer Pekhart signed for Turkish side Gaziantep, where he headed after his contract at Polish Legia Warsaw expired. In the autumn, he started thirteen competitive matches, scoring two goals.
However, he will not score any more goals for the Turkish club. After the end of the autumn season, he agreed with the club’s management to end his cooperation. The former Slavia striker did not feel comfortable in Turkey and was happy to agree to terminate his contract.
The lanky striker is now sorting out his future. And surprisingly for some, he is negotiating his return to Legia, where he had a very successful season. In the past, he helped the Polish big club to two championship titles and also became the top scorer in the Polish Ekstraklasa.
According to Polish journalist Sebastian Staszewski, sporting director Jacek Zielinski is in talks with Pekhart about a return to the club. The club from Warsaw is in second place, nine points behind leader Raków.
Coach Runjaić has tasked the club’s management with bringing in a goal-scoring striker to help them trouble the Polish league leaders in the spring.
And the arrival of Pekhart could be the right choice according to Zieliński. The national team striker would come to a familiar environment and would not need time for acclimatization.
The former Spurs striker played ninety games during his first engagement in Warsaw, in which he netted 39 goals. In Poland, they believe that the second stint of the lanky striker will also be successful.
