Another transfer bomb is about to go off in the Eredivisie. Feyenoord Rotterdam are currently chasing a €100 million star, who is none other than Santiago Giménez. The Mexican striker is currently one of the hottest young strikers who are on the verge of a move to one of the elite leagues.

Giménez has been in brilliant form this season, having started the season with a record of fifteen goals in thirteen games across all competitions. The 22-year-old Argentine-born footballer has also set an Eredivisie record by scoring thirteen goals in his first nine games, something that has never been done before in this century.

It is also a sensation that this season the same feat was achieved by Alkmaar’s Vangelis Pavlidis, who had the same goal-scoring record after nine games. This record was previously held by Uruguayan star Luis Suárez, who played for Ajax Amsterdam, and Mounir El Hamdaoui, who played for Alkmaar.

Giménez transferred to Feyenoord from Cruz Azul in 2022 for four million euros plus bonuses. When he left for Rotterdam, he was only the second option, as the club relied on Brazilian striker Danilo.

In the beginning, the Mexican comet only fulfilled the role of substitute this season. After a short time, however, he showed potential and scored many goals in a very short time.

In his very first year in Europe, the skilful striker ended the season with an admirable record of fifteen goals scored. He also shone in the Europa League, where he scored five goals in nine games.

Giménez is the type of versatile striker who plays in a big space. Of course, the quality of the Mexican has not escaped the attention of European clubs – Arsenal, Inter and also Frankfurt and Dortmund are among the hot suitors according to foreign media.

According to the renowned Transfermarkt server, the current market value of the player has risen from six million euros to forty million, but it can be counted on that if someone wants to bring Giménez to their team, they will have to pay at least twice as much.

In all likelihood, the Eredivisie transfer record will be broken as well. That is currently held by Antony, who left for Manchester United last season for €95 million.
