At the start of the season, it was still uncertain what the future held for Kylian Mbappé. PSG tried to sell him to the Middle East. But now the French gem is once again an indispensable part of the team and his continued stay in Paris is in play.
Kylian Mbappé has been one of the media’s most talked about footballers in recent years. For one thing, he is one of the world’s absolute top players, but beyond that, his future is still being discussed. For a long time Real Madrid were interested in him, but he is still a PSG star.
The transfer of the French gem was also discussed in the summer. The 24-year-old footballer announced to the Parisian club that he would not sign a new contract. Real Madrid was on the lookout, but PSG did not want to let him go there.
Mbappé was subsequently dropped from the squad for some time, the club even wanted to sell him to the Middle East. However, PSG soon backed out of this decision. Moreover, the Frenchman rejected billions from Saudi Arabia.
Moreover, PSG is now starting a new era and Mbappé is a key part of it. Especially after Lionel Messi and Neymar left the club. Mbappé now has 15 goals and 1 assist in 15 competitive games.
Will Mbappé stay at PSG?
January is approaching and with it the period when potential suitors can start communicating about signing a contract. Kylian Mbappé has a contract until 30 June 2024.
According to AS.com, PSG has no plans to offer its star a new contract, however, it expects Mbappé to exercise his contract extension clause until 2025. Apparently, the Parisian outfit cannot pay its star more money and therefore will not put any pressure on him.
The key to Mbappé’s stay may be, among other things, the departure of Neymar, with whom he had to fight for the same position. The Frenchman reportedly did not take well to the fact that Neymar was preferred on the left wing for marketing reasons at the expense of the 24-year-old attacking ace.
Now Mbappé is free on the left, the position belongs to him. If he were to leave for Real Madrid, he would have to contend with competition in the form of Vinicius Junior.
Moreover, Spanish media sources say that Mbappé’s relationship with PSG is now smooth again after the summer disputes and the world’s third best player last season is happy in Paris again.
