Kaik Brito will fight for his dream UFC contract
UFC Apex in Las Vegas tonight will witness another round of Dana White’s Contender Series, as the boss picks the next fighters for his organization. Two men who started out at lightweight will battle it out for a spot in the top MMA league in the world. But now they’ll try to fight their way up a division.
And it’s here! Can a man who has finished all of his 16 wins in professional MMA before the limit stand the test of his life? The Welsh gangster, who has no shortage of motivation, will certainly be up against it.
But he faces a Welsh gangster with motivation to spare
Oban Elliott has been involved in martial arts practically since he was a young boy, having tried boxing, kickboxing, taekwondo and judo. Eventually, he made his mark in MMA and became the top man in the Cage Warriors organization at just 25 years old.
But he didn’t have only pleasant moments there, as doctors found him with a heart arrhythmia and it looked like the Welsh fighter would not be fighting anymore. Eventually, though, he came back and will now fight not only for his dream, but also for his father, who took his own life when Oban was just 7 years old.
“When you look at the setbacks, especially my illness…the way I bounced back from my defeats in the cage was similar to the way I bounced back from my setbacks in life,” Elliott said , according to the BBC.
“I’ve come back stronger and now I’m here to present myself to the world in front of leading man Dana White,” not complaining about his difficult lot in life and looking to tackle his biggest career challenge yet.
Elliott is currently on a four-fight win streak and last tasted the bitterness of defeat in December 2021. Will he extend his streak against a man who has a penchant for finishing his opponents in the first round?
