Will Ibrahimovic end his career at AC Milan? The Swedish cannonballer has hinted that the Italian giant may not be his last stop
AC Milan, as Zlatan’s last engagement? Until recently, everything was pointing towards that, but now Ibrahimovic has said he wants to play as long as he can. What club could he possibly move to after that?
AC Milan, as Zlatan’s last engagement? Until recently, everything was pointing towards that, but now Ibrahimovic has said he wants to play as long as he can. And if AC won’t allow him to do that, what club could he possibly move to afterwards?
Recently, Zlatan Ibrahimovic stated that AC Milan is the club where he feels best. In short, he considers the Milanese big club as his home.
He also let it be known that it is very likely that this is where he will end his rich football career. However, it is clear from his latest statement that he wants to play as long as his health allows him to do so, he says he will definitely not end his career before then.
Unless the Milan management allows him to do so, it is very difficult to see where he might head afterwards. However, a return to Ajax, for example, would certainly be in the cards. Two years ago, in an interview with Goal, he mentioned that he would like to be a director of the Dutch club.
It is also reportedly not out of the question that Ibrahimovic would return there before hanging up his cleats.
The Swedish veteran, who celebrated his 40th birthday in early October, extended his contract with AC in April. It is valid until the end of June 2022 and it is questionable whether or not he will be able to extend his current contract with the Italian club.
Ibrahimovic has so far hit 794 games in his career, in which he has scored 487 goals and added 200 assists.
He has also picked up many club and individual successes – he has won the league title eleven times (Ajax, Barcelona, Inter Milan, AC Milan, PSG) and has even been named the best footballer of the year 14 times!
