The Bundesliga has three rounds under its belt and Bayer Leverkusen has lost all three. But before the league competition started, they also lost in a cup match against the newcomer to the third league. That’s four competitive losses in a row.
There are several reasons for the tragic start. Florian Wirtz is missing, Karim Bellarabi and Amine Adli are also out. But over the summer, the already not very solid defence was not strengthened and the squad is not very wide.
Moreover, the team does not look good on the pitch either. The players don’t seem to know what to play. They look chaotic and lack hunger, fight and commitment. That’s why a revival and expansion is needed. And that’s exactly what Leverkusen is aiming for.
According to football magazine Kicker, Bayer are trying to get the Chelsea winger on loan. Callum Hudson-Odoi has been linked with a move to Bayern several times before. However, this did not happen in the end.
The Blues always wanted to keep him in the team. They believed in his potential. But he still hasn’t developed enough to play an important role. At 21, Hudson-Odoi has yet to find a place to play. And Leverkusen would be the right choice.
His arrival would not only help him, but also the German club itself. However, Adam Hložek, who currently plays on the wing, could also pay the price. And should Hudson-Odoi push Moussa Diaby out of the line-up? That’s not a possibility.
However, for Leverkusen, it would mean that Hložek doesn’t have to plug the hole on the wing, but could try to play under Patrik Schick instead of Azmoun. This is the most realistic option. Quite possibly the Englishman could create an ideal position for Hložek.
