Will he ruin his career waiting for McGregor? Champion Makhachev has a clear message for the UFC star, fans already miss him

He is a former Bellator champion and has also fought for the title in the UFC. The vast majority of his fights are attractive. But now Michael Chandler has been without a fight for a long time. He has long had a fight with Conor McGregor arranged, but it is still unclear if it will ever happen. The champion Islam Makhachev has had his say.

He’s had five fights in the UFC so far, but has four bonuses for fight or performance of the night. Since he traded Bellator for the biggest organization on the planet, he has been one of the most attractive fighters.

In addition, Michael Chandler is taking one challenge after another. He dealt with Dan Hooker right from the start, then unsuccessfully fought for the title with Charles Oliveira, and eventually lost to Justin Gaethje in a memorable battle.

But apart from that, the American fighter scored a win over Tony Ferguson, and in his last fight he was no match for Dustin Poirier. A name, a concept and a big star. But Iron, as he is nicknamed, has never shied away from anything and has always delivered a great show.

What makes it all the sadder is the fact that he last fought in November 2022. Since then, he ‘s been waiting constantly for Conor McGregor. A fight with him has been arranged for a long time, but it keeps getting postponed because of the Irishman.

First, the problem was that Conor was not in the anti-doping program of USADA, with whom the UFC ended its cooperation because of that as well. Now the problem is who knows what. What is certain, though, is that it’s definitely not in Chandler. Rather, there’s a lot of talk that McGregor may very well never fight.

Yet it’s been more than half a year since the former biggest star in combat sports announced his return. But could she be preparing for a fight? It doesn’t look like it.

Is Chandler ruining his career? Makhachev gave him advice

Michael Chandler’s hiatus has lasted too long. He could have easily made it two fights in that time. He’s 37 years old now. Instead of waiting for an uncertain fight with Conor McGregor, he could have earned it, gained confidence after defeats, not gone out of practice. But the opposite is happening.

The advice now given to Chandler by the champion of his weight division, Islam Makhachev. “I sincerely wish the fight would happen, but at this juncture it looks bad for Chandler. How many years has he been waiting for this fight? He goes to bed every night dreaming of fighting McGregor, but he’s not young anymore,” MMA Junkie quotes him as saying.

“You have a chance to fight somebody, make money. Then you can fight Conor. Chandler lost his last fight. If he loses the next one, he’ll still make money. And if he loses, maybe McGregor will think he has a chance to beat him and go into the fight. That fight is good for the fans anyway, it doesn’t mean anything for the division,” Makhachev said.
