Czechs and Slovaks are starting to make their mark in the most prestigious MMA organization UFC. Martin Buday, who was the champion of the Octagon before his departure, is currently scheduled for his third fight there. Who will be his opponent?
The now thirty-one-year-old Martin Buday won the UFC title in the summer of 2021, but then got his chance in Contender and subsequently won a contract in the UFC.
He made his debut there in April 2022, beating Chris Barnett. A few months later, he also beat Lukasz Brzeski and showed he was a force to be reckoned with.
The UFC has now scheduled another fight for him, which should reaffirm his undisputed qualities, as he has only lost once in his career, to Juan Espino in 2017.
According to journalist Marcel Dorff, we can look forward to Buday’s third fight under the UFC banner on February 15, when he challenges Jake Collier.
The thirty-four-year-old American has been in the UFC for many years, but he alternates wins with defeats. In 2022, he broke that streak as he lost his second fight in a row, something that hasn’t happened in his career.
He’s currently on a 13:8 streak and shouldn’t be a favorite in the fight. Incidentally, Buday is also better placed in the world rankings as he is ranked 66th.
Collier is eight spots behind him, so a win would give the Slovak heavyweight another nice move in the rankings.
