Will Gerrard be tempted by money? Liverpool legend has offer to train in Saudi Arabia after Aston Villa setback
Steven Gerrard has made a brilliant start to his coaching career. He led Rangers FC to the Scottish league title and broke Celtic’s reign, but then headed to his native England, where he was not so successful. On the contrary. He is now without a contract and waiting for offers. He’s already got one.

The Liverpool legend has entered the coaching world in style. In the summer of 2018, Steven Gerrard became the new coach of Scottish Rangers FC and he had a clear task. To break Celtic’s long-standing domination.
He did just that in 2021, winning the only trophy of his coaching career so far. However, he quit the traditional Glasgow club shortly after winning the title to try his hand at the Premier League.
After nearly 200 coaching stints with the Scottish team, he took over at Aston Villa in England, only to find that Birmingham were not at all successful. He spent less than a year at the club, averaging only 1.18 points per game in 40 competitive games.
Unsurprisingly, he was subsequently removed as head coach. So he has been without a contract since October 2022 and is looking for another chance to prove himself.
It is quite possible that Gerrard will disappear from the European continent altogether. Indeed, according to Reuters, he has an offer from Saudi Arabia, which is now trying to attract one big name after another to its top competition.
The English legend is being courted by Al-Ettifaq, currently a rather mediocre Saudi Arabian league team that won two titles in 1983 and 1987. The Liverpool icon is seriously considering an offer, financial motivation may play a role.
Recently, stars like Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante have headed to the Saudi Pro League. Cristiano Ronaldo has been here since the beginning of the year, and there is also talk of Neymar or José Mourinho coming.
Lionel Messi also had an offer, but did not take advantage of the high financial offer and instead headed to MLS, where he signed for Inter Miami.
