Will Darida experience a second relegation in Germany? Hertha are not in a good position after the first barrage

It’s quite ironic. Hertha Berlin wanted to be a big club, but the opposite happened. Practically from the moment the big ambitions were announced, the club’s management started making one mistake after another and instead of success came relegation. And it was noticeable.
The team from the German capital lost the number one position in Berlin to the smaller and more modest Union, and is now struggling to play in the top flight at all next season. And the barrage hasn’t really got off to the best start.
Hertha finished the season in 16th position. In order to stay among the elite, they have to beat Hamburg in a double-header, who in turn are in the running for promotion after all these years. And it hasn’t started well. They lost the first leg at home 0:1.
Vladimir Darida, otherwise a long-time stable member of Hertha’s starting line-up, did not play at all. He may experience his second relegation in his nine-year career in Germany. The first time was in 2015.
Two years before that, he left Viktoria Plzeň for a modest and small team from Freiburg. However, the latter did not stay in the competition and Darida left for Hertha.
And while a few years later, Darida himself is fighting with Hertha to stay in the Bundesliga, Freiburg have worked their way up to being one of the teams that will appear in the European Cup next season. And it’s certainly no coincidence.
But the question is what’s next for Hertha. Why it failed to become the big club it wanted to be, and what the possibilities are for the future, we have already discussed this season. It will depend on whether it holds on. But there is still hope for a brighter tomorrow.
