Will Coutinho take the thorn out of Barcelona’s side? With an offer that can’t be refused comes Newcastle
Philippe Coutinho is one of the most expensive players in the world in terms of transfers, but also one of the biggest flops ever. The winner in this case is clearly Liverpool, while Barcelona are left with only debts. And it is this problem that Newcastle could now help it with.
Philippe Coutinho is one of the most expensive players in the world in terms of transfers, but also one of the biggest flops ever. The winner in this case is clearly Liverpool, while Barcelona are left with only debts. And it is this problem that Newcastle could now help it with.
In January 2018, Coutinho was at his peak and wanted more. Only with the Brazilian footballer, the saying that he who wants power has nothing is perfectly true. The much-vaunted technician suddenly became an unwanted player who, after a year and a half at Camp Nou, headed to Bayern Munich, from where he returned after one season.
However, the year-long guest stint in Germany wasn’t bad at all, as Coutinho managed to dominate the Champions League with the Munich side, as Bayern beat Barcelona en route to the title.
But in the Catalan big club, it’s misery again. In the current season, he has played in 11 games, but he has only played 493 minutes. Unless there is a change, Coutinho will probably head home again.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Newcastle have shown great interest and will be building a new team under new ownership, and Coutinho should be one of the many new faces.
In addition, there is talk of a guest option, which would relieve both clubs, but especially of course the Magpies, who will struggle a lot in the coming years with financial fair play.
Furthermore, Coutinho would be a great fit for the newly building team without question. He’s an excellent and already experienced technician who has kicked some ass in the Premier League. 41 goals and 37 assists in 152 games are clear proof of that!
However, Xavi could throw a pitchfork into this emerging transfer window, as he will most likely take the helm at Camp Nou. Whether Coutinho will fit into his plans, however, remains to be seen.
Given the financial situation, however, he can be counted on to let the Brazilian technician leave, as he would bring much-needed funds to the club’s coffers for a suitable addition to the squad.
Another thing is that Xavi will be looking to build a new team on young players and Coutinho is already 29 years old. But only the coming weeks will tell how everything will unfold. But it is already clear that a lot will happen in Barcelona and also in Newcastle.
