Will Coufal leave West Ham? The Czech back has an offer from the Premier League on the table! The Hammers are already preparing a new contract
Vladimír Coufal is an important player for West Ham, but he is not so happy off the pitch. The London club’s management has offered the Czech back better terms, but as the British media reports, Coufal now has one suitor directly in the Premier League.
Vladimír Coufal is an important player for West Ham, but he is not so happy off the pitch. The London club’s management has offered the Czech back better terms, but as the British media reports, Coufal now has one suitor directly in the Premier League.
Vladimír Coufal is currently having a very good season from an individual point of view. He has already played 29 games in the English top flight so far, in which he has recorded seven assists.
The thirty-one-year-old outside back has equalled his tally in assists from the 2020/21 season, when he joined West Ham from Slavia. Needless to say, Coufal is the second best assist man among all Premier League defenders so far this season.
Tottenham’s Pedro Porro also has seven goal assists, while Kieran Trippier is the leader with 10 assists. In any case, the former Slavia or Slovan Liberec player is playing regularly and coach David Moyes regularly includes him in the starting line-up.
But although the Ostrava native is a cornerstone of the Hammers’ defensive unit, the club’s management did something that didn’t exactly make him happy at the beginning of the year.
In short, Coufal expected that when his current contract expired, his performance and position in the team would have a significant financial impact in the new one. But that didn’t happen, the offer was far below Coufal’s expectations.
Coufal has an offer from the Premier League
“The club exercised the option, but we had a promise, or not a promise, there was an agreement that the option would not be exercised and a new contract would be signed. In the end they exercised it and now we are somehow talking about a new contract,” Coufal explained in an earlier interview with CANAL+ Sport.
So now both parties have come to the negotiating table, with West Ham now coming up with a proposal for a new two-year contract. However, as The Athletic reports, the club’s management have still not reached an agreement with Coufal’s agent Karol Kisel.
However, the thirty-one-year-old wing-back reportedly has another option. An as yet unnamed Premier League club is interested in his services. Thus, Coufal is currently considering his future.
