Antonio Rüdiger is still an indispensable part of Chelsea’s defensive line after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel. But that could soon change. The German stopper is out of contract in the summer and there is no rush to extend his contract.

Chelsea acquired Antonio Rüdiger to their squad in the summer of 2017 for €35 million. It took some time for the German stopper to get used to the English Premier League, however, he is now one of the cornerstones of the Blues’ defensive line.

That may not last for long, however. After all, at 28 years old, Rüdiger is at his peak and his contract in London expires in the summer. So he wants to carefully consider the steps regarding his future.

“This is probably the most important decision of my professional career right now, so I definitely don’t want to rush anything,” the Berlin native let it be known.

But according to his words, he has not yet negotiated with any club. He has only spoken to Chelsea’s management.

According to German publication Bild, Rüdiger is open to a possible return to Bayern Munich, who are interested in the former AS Roma stopper.

The Bavarian giant is counting on not keeping Niklas Süle in their team for a long time. Rüdiger could be one of the potential replacements.

The German international has played 156 competitive games for Chelsea so far.
