Why did McGregor get badly hurt in the fight with Poirier? The Irishman is suffering from a fatigue fracture

Over the past week, there has been virtually nothing in the MMA world other than Conor McGregor’s nasty injury and how it could have happened. That has now been explained by the fighter himself, who said that he went into the fight injured and also suffering from a fatigue fracture.

Conor McGregor suffered a serious leg injury at the end of the first round in his fight with Dustin Poirier, which he lost just because of a doctor’s decision.

Thus, the whole MMA world was wondering how it is possible that the Irish fighter made such an injury in an uncaused stepping. Now McGregor himself has explained it.

“I went into the fight with an injury. Feel free to ask Dana White and UFC head doctor Davidson. They knew very well. I was suffering from a fatigue fracture. We even talked about cancelling the fight altogether because of it,” he said in his video.

McGregor is now out of surgery and brimming with optimism. In fact, he has a titanium brace in his leg, which he says makes him feel like the Terminator.

The surgery was said to have been talked about before the fight, but McGregor wouldn’t go through with it without a serious reason.

So now he has to rehab and won’t be involved in full training for the next few months. However, once he starts, preparation for the fourth fight with Poirier is expected to begin.
