According to Deník Sport sources, Jan Suchopárek should become the new coach of the U21 national team.
He currently leads the U18 team, and has been the head coach of the youth teams continuously since the 2015/16 season, when he and Luboš Kozl left Dukla.
In 2017, Suchopárek was the head coach of the U19 national team, which was the 1998 team. With players such as Alex Král, Michal Sadílek, Matěj Chaluš and Ondřej Šašinka, he reached the semi-finals of the Euro U19, where the Lions got a goal from England in the 93rd minute.
Initially, there were several candidates for the position of the U21 coach. The FAČR was supposed to think about Lubos Kozlov and Václav Kotal, who ended up on the benches of Baník and Sparta respectively last season.
Vítězslav Lavička, who has managed the Lions twice before, was to be the next person to be approached. But he wants to concentrate on club engagements.
The current squad will consist of players of the year 2000 and younger. Suchopárek also has experience with them, in 2019 he took the U19 team to the EURO U19 in Armenia. That’s why his choice makes sense.
