The WTA Livesport Prague Open will start on Monday 12 July and will be played on a hard surface. Who are the favourites for the overall victory?
The Livesport Prague Open, which takes place in Stromovka, has been on the WTA calendar continuously since 2010. The tournament is endowed with $235,000 and the winner earns 250 points in the ranking.
In 2021, the main part of the tournament will feature 32 female tennis players. However, the Romanian player Simona Halep, who dominated this tournament last year, will be missing among them. Before that, Jil Teichmann did it.
The last Czech winner is Petra Kvitová, who will be the number one seed this year. On the other side of the leaderboard we find Barbora Krejcikova, who surprised with her triumph at the French Open.
We would be looking in vain for another representative of the elite twenty at the tournament in Prague. The third seed will be Markéta Vondroušová. After the unsuccessful French Open, she dropped down the rankings to 42nd position.
The fourth seeded player will be Marie Bouzkova. However, we must not forget about Kateřina Siniaková, Su-Wei Hsieh, Nina Stojanovic and Tereza Martincová. Viktoria Kužmová, Lucie Havlíčková and Samantha Stosur will receive a wild card.
Unlike last year, spectators will also have access to the courts. The main venue has a capacity of 525 seats. Other matches will be played at the Sparta Tennis Academy, which will be open to 200 spectators.
