The Challenger in Liberec will be held from 2 to 8 August on clay courts. The winner will receive a prize money of 6,190 euros (approx. 158,000 crowns). They will receive 80 points in the ATP ranking.
The Svijany Open has been held regularly since 2013. The only exception occurred a year ago, when the tournament was thwarted by a coronavirus pandemic. Jiri Vesely triumphed in the debut edition, but since then the Czech Republic has been waiting for another winner.
This year, Jiří Veselý, a twenty-eight-year-old native of Příbram, will be the number one seed. In the first round, he will face the Tunisian Malek Jaziri, with whom he will play his fourth match.
On the other side of the line-up we will find the Dutch Tallon Griekspoor, who is having a great season. Recently, he even won the Amersfoort event and boasts a record of 20 wins and only nine losses on clay in 2021.
Other favourites for the overall victory include Kamil Majchrzak (116th ATP), Andrey Martin (117th ATP), Botice Van De Zandschulp (126th ATP) and Marc Polmans (149th ATP).
However, you can also look forward to other players from the Czech Republic. Tomáš Macháč and Jiří Lehečka will play in Liberec. Michael Vrbensky, Jonáš Forejtek and Dalibor Svrčina will receive a wild card.
