Who is the 16-year-old talent from PSG? Warren Zaire-Emery breaks records
While one of the main stars of the Parisian team, Kylian Mbappé, started against Bayern in the Champions League only on the bench, the 16-year-old talent Warren Zaire-Emery made history. Wednesday’s clash between the giants resulted in a narrow 1-0 victory for Bayern Munich. Although the French side lost, they made history by fielding a French youngster who was just 16 years old.
That was Warren Zaire-Emery, who is having a breakthrough season. The footballer born in 2006 has already started 11 league games and has even scored two goals. He benefits from the confidence of coach Galtier, who sees great promise in him for the future.
“I need to have competition in the team. If someone who is 16 years old is able to play better than the others, he will get chances,” Galtier said. So it is clear that he sees Zaire-Emery as one of the key players in his squad.
Warren Zaire-Emery and his strengths
The French youngster came through PSG’s academy and shone in every age group, which is part of the reason why he peeped into the A-League so early. He first impressed back in 2017 when he helped lead France to victory in the European Under-17 Championship.
Zaire-Emery is also unique because of his variability. He is capable of playing as a six and an eight and can support his team’s offensive attack. He is not afraid to shoot from mid-range and can play with both feet.
At the age of 16, he shows great potential, even in a team packed with stars like PSG.
He will be able to add more experience on Sunday. The Parisian side will be playing a home game against fifth-placed Lille.
