The neighbouring German Bundesliga is a frequent destination for domestic footballers. This text introduces and recalls the most successful Czech goal scorers who left the deepest mark in the historical tables and statistics of the highest German football competition. How does the in-form Patrik Schick compare to the greatest legends of Czech football?

The best five Czech strikers in the Bundesliga are opened by the most prominent Czech national team player at the moment. Patrik Schick has already scored fourteen goals for Leverkusen in the league this season and is in a tight race with Bayern’s Lewandowski for the goal scoring crown. Along with the goals from Schick’s other two seasons in Germany, he has already scored an impressive 33 goals in three seasons in total.

In fourth place in the imaginary Czech Bundesliga ranking is former national team player and long-time Hannover player Jiri Steiner. Štajner moved to Lower Saxony at the request of then-coach Ralf Rangnick. During his seven years in the Bundesliga, Štajner scored 42 goals.

Third place is held by Vratislav Lokvenc, a Hradec Králové football alumnus. Lokvenc is also one of the prominent Czech representatives from the modern era. Outside of Hradec, he linked his domestic career mainly with Sparta Prague, from where he later moved to Kaiserslautern. During his five seasons in Germany he scored a total of 46 goals, besides Kaiserslautern he also played one season in Bochum.

The silver position belongs to the legendary Czechoslovakian and Czech representative Pavel Kuk. Kuka also linked a large part of his career in Germany with Kaiserslautern. Apart from one season in the second division, which is not counted in our statistics, Kuka scored a total of 50 goals on Bundesliga turf.

In Germany, Kuka then played in the first league for Nuremberg or Stuttgart, from where he returned to Slavia Prague, which brought him up in football, at the turn of the millennium.

In the first place can be no other than another legend, who connected his career mainly with Borussia Dortmund. The lanky Czech international Jan Koller spent a total of six seasons in the Bundesliga and scored a total of 61 goals.

After his stint with Dortmund, Koller left for Monaco for a year and a half. However, he returned to German waters for a few more matches, wearing the Nürnberg jersey in the middle of the 2007/08 season.
