Viktoria Plzeň celebrated an unexpected league title, which they finally secured with a win over Hradec Králové. When the championship celebrations die down, they will start looking back at the European preliminary rounds in Štruncové sady.
While Viktoria has been successful at home this season, it has struggled in the cup qualifiers. However, in the new season, they will play the second round of the Champions League and several opponents are already looming.
For example, Plzeň may face TNS, The New Saints from Wales. They were already 0:4 down in the first leg of the Conference Preliminary Round last year, but eventually reduced the score to at least 2:4. But the end of the game was very heated and a replay would be very interesting.
Viktoria could also face Helsinki, Zalgiris Vilnius, Lincoln, Shamrock and FC Zurich.
These teams will be joined by a few more opponents who will go through the first preliminary round. This could be Slovakia’s Slovan Bratislava.
Viktoria must go through 3 preliminary rounds to reach the final stage of the Champions League. If they are eliminated in the first one, they will go to the Europa League qualification, if they fail to qualify, they will play in the Conference League.
The second preliminary round of the LM will be played on 19/20 and 26/27 July. Pilsen will find out the draw on 15 June.
