Czech tennis is among the best in the world in junior categories. This is confirmed by the fact that among women we can find four of our tennis players in the top ten of the ITF junior ranking. Czech tennis has the most representatives in the top 100, together with the USA. Namely 12.

Nikola Bartůňková (16)

She is ranked ninth in the world among juniors. She is 252nd in the WTA rankings, making her the youngest tennis player in the world to be ranked so high. She played fourteen matches in junior competitions in 2022, thirteen of which she came out victorious.

Bartunkova’s biggest success to date came in April. When she reached the final in Istanbul. In the quarter-finals, she defeated Japan’s Hontama, who was ranked 130th in the WTA rankings at the time, 6:0, 6:2.

“She is an exceptional talent. I mean, just in terms of movement, she’s great. He’s got that manly run, quick feet, that’s always good. The potential there is huge,” described Bartůňková to Aktuálně.cz some time ago the president of the club I. ČLTK Praha Vladislav Šavrda.

Brenda Fruhvirtová (15)

The freshly 15-year-old tennis player is ranked fifth in the world in the ITF junior rankings, but she is unlikely to add any more starts in junior competitions. She wants to devote herself fully to adult tennis.

The native of Prague is considered by many to be the biggest iron in the fire of Czech tennis. At the age of 14, she won an ITF tournament in Tucuman, Argentina, with a loss of only two sets and thus became the youngest tennis player to win an ITF tournament in the last six years.

A few days ago Brenda Fruhvirt won the tournament in Klosters, Switzerland without losing a single set. With her intelligent and unerring game she is one of the unique tennis players at her age.

Linda Fruhvirt (17)

One hundred and seventy-sixth player in the world ranking has played less than thirty matches this year, from which she came out victorious fifteen times. Linda Fruhvirt’s biggest success came in March when she reached the quarter-finals in Miami.

There she scored valuable scalps of the 90th player in the world Kovinic, Elise Mertens and Azarenka. It was only in the quarter-finals that the world number four Paula Badosa managed to stop the veteran Czech.

“I want to be the world number one and win a Grand Slam. My sister Brenda and I have always had that goal, that’s what we’re aiming for,” Linda said on behalf of both sisters.

Lucie Havlíčková (17)

Lucie Havlíčková, the Czech Republic’s highest ranked junior player, is involved in both junior tennis, in which she is the second best in the world, and adult tennis. Last month Havlíčková managed to win the junior Roland Garros in both singles and doubles alongside Sara Bejlek.

“It’s an incredible and indescribable feeling. I am incredibly happy, I am not a person who likes to show emotions, but I am really happy,” Havlíčková told Radio Sport after the match.
