It probably comes as no surprise that Cristiano Ronaldo topped the list. The legendary Portuguese striker moved back to the English Premier League at the start of the season.
At first, Manchester City were linked with Ronaldo’s return to England, but they backed out of the deal at the last minute. In the end, Cristiano decided to return to Manchester United, in whose jersey he had already enjoyed fantastic success. At the moment, however, neither he nor the club are having a very good time.
The Red Devils recently crashed out of the Champions League, and are not doing too well in the league either. However, the blame for these results cannot be placed solely on Ronaldo. The Portuguese striker is definitely one of the best that this most famous English club has to offer in the current season.
Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne came second in the rankings. He signed a new contract last year that will keep him at the club until 2025.
Even though the Belgian international has been delivering reliable and difference performances for a long time, it is ironic that he was able to negotiate a five-year contract with such a lucrative salary all by himself.
He also convinced the management of his salary with a report from a data analyst that pointed out his importance to Manchester City.
The other places were taken by Jadon Sancho and Raphaël Varane, who became new signings for Manchester United in the summer.
The third place was taken by David de Gea, the club’s number one. The new contract he signed in 2019 is being repaid this season with great performances.
