The Czech national team will play their second qualifying match against Moldova tonight. After a great win against Poland, the Czechs have their work cut out for them and Jaroslav Šilhavý can give space to new faces. Who could get a chance?
Already against Poland, Šilhavý surprised by sending Krejčí, Jurásek, Hložek and Čvančara into the starting line-up, while Chytil also played almost half an hour. Considering their good performance, we can expect them to start again against Moldova.
Coach Šilhavy may not change the winning line-up, but if the match goes as expected from the start and the Czechs confirm their role as favourites, more space could be given to other players in the second half.
Václav Černý
He’s playing in tremendous form. He has 2 goals and 3 assists in his last three games for Twente and has a record of 10+6 for the whole season. Unfortunately, there is no place for him in the system (3-5-2) that the Czech Republic played against Poland. He’s not a wingback and not a top striker either, so he only played 2 minutes.
A transformation to a similar 3-4-3 formation could be a possibility, where Cerny would start on his right wing. He should definitely get more space against Moldova than in the first game.
Ondřej Lingr
The absolute driving force and leader of Slavia with 13+4 record this season. However, he has only 5 starts in the national team at 24 years old and it’s time for him to get more space. His strongest position is the sub-rosa midfielder, where he has great competition in Adam Hložek and Antonín Barák.
So he didn’t get a minute against Poland, but he could get a chance to show his worth in the duel with Moldova. Šilhavý, like Trpišovský, is likely to use Lingr in games when he wants to break the unfavourable situation. He doesn’t have a better joker in his squad.
Matěj Jurásek
One of the three newcomers who did not start against Poland. D. Jurásek and Čvančara started in the starting lineup, Douděra came in during. M. Jurásek, Sadílek and Vitík did not start.
Also for Matej Jurásek, as with Cerny, the problem is the position. In the 3-5-2 formation, the wingers will disappear, but that is the position of the 19-year-old talent. He’s at the national team reunion more to gain experience for the future, but he might get some minutes.
