Seven Barcelona players are out of contract in the summer and are at real risk of becoming free agents at the end of the season. Which players are no longer counted on by the Catalan club?

Memphis Depay

Memphis Depay has undoubtedly fulfilled his mission at Camp Nou. The Dutch striker arrived at Barcelona in the summer of 2021 and was tasked with strengthening the Catalan club’s helpless attack.

He did just that, scoring 12 goals in his first season and bringing a fresh wind to the Spanish club’s offensive ranks.

Depay continued to perform well, but unfortunately for him, he paid the price for the arrival of the coveted reinforcements. Thus, getting into the lineup through Lewandowski, Raphinha or Dembélé is currently impossible for him.

Hector Bellerin

Fans were rather looking forward to the return of Hector Bellerin, unfortunately he rather disappointed with his performances. Coach Xavi has no further plans for the Spanish full-back, so the club will try to sell him in the winter.

Marcos Alonso

A slightly different situation concerns Alonso. He is regularly deployed in the line-up and is thus a full-fledged player in the team. However, he signed a one-year contract with the team upon his transfer and the management is now planning to extend it.

Sergi Roberto

Sergi Roberto’s departure has been speculated for quite some time. He has practically disappeared from the squad and now he can only pass on his experience in the Barcelona cabin.

Roberto is certainly not expected to make his way back into the starting eleven, so leaving the club should be a fairly logical option.

Sergio Busquets

The day may come in the summer when Busquets leaves Barcelona. The lanky midfielder is already a legend at the club, however, he himself feels that he is no longer giving the team as much as he would like due to his advanced age.

This has also come with criticism from some fans. There is an offer on the table from an MLS club that the Spanish midfielder is considering.

Inaki Pena

In this case, it’s the 23-year-old goalkeeper who is backing up ter Stegen. He has no chance of getting past the German goalkeeper at the moment, which is why Pena is tipped to leave. However, the club intends to do everything possible to secure the talented goalkeeper’s contract.

Arnau Tenas

Arnau Tenas is also a goalkeeper and as you can see, he has a lot of competition in Barcelona. Therefore, it is not surprising that the twenty-one-year-old Spanish talent lacks match experience. He would like to find that in another team and maybe return to Barcelona in the future.
