The athletes are global celebrities, their matches are watched by millions of people around the world, and the rewards match that. Which Czech athletes earn the most money?

Forbes, a magazine dedicated to finance, has compiled a ranking of the top 25 highest paid Czech athletes. Earnings were calculated as gross salary income from the club and money from sponsors between July 2021 and June 2022.

5. Tomas Hertl – 129 million crowns

The San Jose hockey player will begin his ninth NHL season in October and will be roaming the rink overseas for at least the same amount of time. The 28-year-old center signed an eight-year contract with the Sharks that will earn him 1.56 billion crowns.

4. Patrick Schick – 148 million crowns

Many thought that Patrick Schick’s season of a lifetime called for a move to a more lucrative address. It’s a bit different, the 26-year-old goalscorer has claimed a new contract with 24 goals in 27 games, which puts him as the fourth richest Czech athlete.

3. David Pastrnak – 170 million crowns

Even so, it’s a nice sum of money, so what the heck. But David Pastrňák is in the last year of his current contract. Boston wants to tie him up ideally until the end of his career, but it will have to push the salary cap. There is talk of 9-10 million euros (220-241 million crowns) per year. That would move him even higher.

2. Jakub Voracek – 181 million crowns

Voracek signed his lucrative contract while still in Philadelphia, and after one season in Columbus, he has two more years left on his contract. The 32-year-old top assistant added goal scorer Johnny Gaudreau to the cabinet this summer, and he will be looking for him with his passing from the new season onwards.

1. Tomas Satoransky – 242 million crowns

While soccer and hockey reign supreme among sports in the Czech Republic, in the US the top three positions are basketball, baseball and American football. And the rewards are based on that. Tomas Satoransky had a really wild year, moving three times in the NBA. The 30-year-old Barcelona player, who has returned to Barcelona after many years, also has advertising contracts with Audi and Adidas.

Ranking 10-6:

10. Matěj Vydra – 85 million crowns, 9. Dominik Kubalík – 95 million crowns, 8. Tomáš Souček – 112 million crowns, 7. Jakub Vrána – 113 million crowns, 6. Ondřej Palát – 126 million crowns.
