No one is infallible. Not even goalies. But their mistakes are always the most visible. After all, it is the goalkeepers’ mistakes that are often missed in compilations of funny football moments. And the Bundesliga has put together a top ten list of the “best” mistakes of the last 12 years.

As mentioned, everyone makes mistakes. However, goalkeepers have the misfortune that theirs are often fatal and the most visible. But they can also entertain and lift the spirits, because sometimes there are really curious situations.

This is also illustrated by a video from the official YouTube channel of the German Bundesliga, which put together a list of ten “hilarious” mistakes made by goalkeepers of German football clubs.

In this top ten we can also find big and well-known names. Right at the beginning of the video is Alexander Nübel, today the number one of Monaco and in a few years probably Manuel Neuer’s successor at Bayern Munich and the German national team.

During the 2019/20 season, when he was still a pivot at Schalke, he did catch a shot from one of the Cologne players, but he unexpectedly did not hold the ball and it dropped between his legs all the way over the goal line.

This is followed by several tackles. In the first row Bernd Leno in the Leverkusen jersey before his transfer to Arsenal, in the second row today’s Bayer number one Lukas Hradecky, who kicked off in the 2020/21 season.

There is also, for example, a bad guess and a run for the ball by Oliver Baumann, today Hoffenheim’s goalkeeper. In the video we also find today’s Barcelona number one Marc-André ter Stegen.

This Bundesliga season, Gregor Kobel represents Dortmund’s goalkeeper, who slipped on the kick-off and gifted the Union a goal. The second league is represented by Markus Kolke as the goalkeeper of Hansa Rostock, who did not notice the attacking striker when looking for teammates to pass to.

The moment when Robin Zentner “worked the ball” and blindly wanted to play a quick ball is also amusing. But the ball wasn’t where Zentner thought it was. Then in the 2018/19 season, a goal in the absence of Mark Flekken was a hit. He went to the goal to get a bottle of drink without watching the action on the pitch. When he turned towards the action, the ball was in the net.
