Ilkay Gündogan has had another great season. The Manchester City captain has been a big contributor to the treble and at 32 years of age, he is showing that his form is still at its peak. Where will he head when his contract ends?

Whenever the German midfielder is underrated and not counted on much anymore, he gets into great form and is a key player for Manchester City.

Gündogan has amassed 13 goals and 6 assists this season, plus he contributed with great performances to win the treble and finally the Champions League, the first trophy in the Citizens’ history.

But his contract expires at the Etihad Stadium in exactly 18 days and he has not yet signed a new one. During the spring it looked like he would not continue in the blue jersey, but after a great finish to the season it is not so clear.

At the moment, Gündogan has several options. According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City are offering him a one-year contract extension with an option for another year.

But he also has an offer from Barcelona, where the Catalan giant is offering him a three-year contract. From a financial point of view, an offer from Saudi Arabia would work best, where they have been trying to lure him since January.

The situation is also being monitored by Arsenal, who need to strengthen the centre of midfield. In addition, Borussia Dortmund, where Gündogan worked from 2012-2016, is reportedly interested in returning home.

According to Roman, Gündogan will decide on his future soon. His decision has practically three levels. According to the sporting one, he would stay with the Citizens, who have the strongest squad in the world and can win more trophies here.

But if he tires of life in rainy and gloomy Manchester, the life plane may bring him to sunny Barcelona, where he would enjoy a comfortable life with his family. If he chose the financial side, he would go to Saudi Arabia, where huge sums fly through the air.
