An absolute Bayern icon, an active legend, a magnet for success – perhaps this is a safe way to interpret not only Lewandowski as a footballer, but also his career to date.
The Polish cannonballer recently moved to Barcelona and will thus write his next chapter in football life at the Catalan club. However, Bayern Munich posted a video of his best goals on their Twitter account a few dozen hours ago. And it’s really something to watch.
Lewandowski has won ten Bundesliga titles, eight of them with Bayern. He also won the Champions League with the Bavarian side, and four times won the DFB Pokal (once with Dortmund – ed.).
Lewandowski also broke Müller’s record
In addition to his team achievements, however, the 33-year-old Warsaw native also broke a number of records. His individual records are listed on the Bundesliga’s official website, but one almost mythical record is worth mentioning.
Lewandowski surpassed the legendary Gerd Muller in the number of goals scored in a single season. The mythical figure of 41 successful shooting attempts from the 1971/72 season has been surpassed by the Polish international in the 2020/21 season.
He even needed just 29 games to break that mark. That’s really something incredible.
Lewandowski spent a large part of his football career at Bayern, eight seasons to be precise. In that time, he made 375 starts for the German giant across all competitions, scoring 344 goals and assisting 72 more.
