Conor McGregor is coming off surgery for a broken leg he suffered in his fight with Dustin Poirier. Fans were hoping for his return after the new year, but that is definitely not an option, according to Dana White he won’t be back for another year.

Conor McGregor is recovering from a serious injury, as he broke his leg at the end of the first round and had to end the fight early.

Dustin Poirier is leading the trilogy, having beaten him for the second time. Fans are hoping for a fourth fight, however, because of the way the last one ended.

For that to happen, the Irish fighter needs to recover soon, but such an injury is not to be taken lightly and McGregor is done with wrestling for a long time.

Some were hoping to see the popular or hated fighter just a few months into the new year, but UFC boss Dana White has proved them wrong.

“He’ll be back in a year,” he said succinctly in an interview with TMZ Sports. However, he also added more specific plans for Poirier, who is facing a title fight.

“Dustin Poirier can focus on his goals now, he’s going to fight Charles Oliveira for the lightweight title. We will deal with Conor when he returns, the rivalry between him and Dustin is still open,” he added.
