What’s really behind Thomas Tuchel’s departure from Chelsea?

It was a huge surprise when Chelsea sacked coach Thomas Tuchel after a 1-0 defeat at Dinamo Zagreb. It was allegedly due to poor results and disagreements with the club’s new owner. However, the German newspaper Bild has now come up with some very interesting information.

Thomas Tuchel first sat on the Chelsea bench in January 2021. He took over from Frank Lampard in ninth place. The performance of the team from West London immediately improved, which made Chelsea finish in fourth place.

But that’s not all. The German strategist found a recipe for Atlético Madrid, Porto, Real Madrid and Manchester City and led his charges to triumph in the Champions League. The final match was decided in the 42nd minute by Kai Havertz’s only goal of the game.

Chelsea continued to perform well under Tuchel’s leadership, and also managed to capture the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup. The Blues ended the 2021/22 season in third place in the Premier League table, finishing in the Champions League quarter-finals with Real Madrid.
