What’s going on with Jadon Sancho? He’s out of shape, I don’t know when he’ll return to the A-team, says Ten Hag
He was supposed to be one of Manchester United’s biggest signings. But now it looks like the enthusiasm for Jadon Sancho at Manchester United is slowly fading. Coach Ten Hag has even dropped him from the squad and now he hasn’t taken him with him to the training camp in Spain.
He was supposed to be one of Manchester United’s biggest signings. But now it looks like the enthusiasm for Jadon Sancho at Manchester United is slowly fading. Coach Ten Hag has even dropped him from the squad and now hasn’t taken him with him to the training camp in Spain.
Sancho is going through a very difficult time indeed. He has started the season very well. In mid-September, he scored the winning goal for the Red Devils in the Europa League but at that moment it was almost clear that he would not make the squad for the World Cup in Qatar.
And it was even worse, the form went down rapidly and coach Erik Ten Hag noticed it too. He first put the promising player on the substitutes’ bench and before the national break Sancho watched the matches only from the stands.
So what actually happened to Sancho? He came to Manchester just to play with Albion at the World Cup.
But the English Premier League is different in style to the German Bundesliga and Sancho was not happy with the transition to a more physically demanding game.
The big disappointment came the moment Gareth Southgate announced the nomination for Qatar in which the 22-year-old midfielder was missing. So he was supposed to prepare with the rest of the squad for the national break at the training camp in Spain.
But Sancho didn’t travel there either. United head coach Ten Hag did not take him with him and instead sent him to the Netherlands, where Sancho had an individual training regime.
“He hasn’t been in the last few games with the team because he hasn’t been in the right shape and now he is in an individual regime. We want him to finish it and we will see. Hopefully I will take him back,” the Red Devils coach said. “I don’t know when that will be.”
Ten Hag also added that a combination of poor physical and mental health was behind the drop in form. So hopefully we will see Sancho on the league turf again soon. So far he has only managed to score 8 goals and notched 4 assists in 52 games for Manchester.
