What’s going on with Haaland? The Norwegian marksman has thrown away these two huge chances, City can be very sorry after the loss

Since the beginning of the season we are used to the fact that practically everything Erling Haaland kicks ends up in the net. The Norwegian striker is breaking records, he has 26 goals already, but he is not as good as he was before the World Cup.

During the autumn, Erling Haaland has received nothing but superlatives. The Norwegian striker has adapted extremely quickly after his transfer to Manchester City, scoring goal after goal.

He seemed unstoppable, his hat-tricks terrifying opposing defences. However, after the new year his form dropped a bit, which on one hand is logical, the initial pace he set was insane and it was clear that it couldn’t be sustained.

Haaland didn’t score in the three games after the new year, he didn’t score against Chelsea or in the defeats to Southampton and Manchester United. Then he made up for it with a goal against Tottenham and, most notably, a hat-trick against Wolves, but then he went three games without scoring again.

A completely unprecedented phenomenon in the autumn, as there were only five times in the autumn that Haaland did not score in a match and never twice in a row. That the 22-year-old striker is not as comfortable at the moment as he was before the World Cup was shown by the game against Nottingham.

Manchester City were 1-0 up when Phil Foden headed the ball in from the right wing in the 66th minute and fired in a shot, his attempt was only cleared by Keylor Navas to Haaland.

The lanky forward only hit the crossbar from just inside the box, but the ball bounced back to him, Haaland worked it on his chest and fired high over the bar.

Back in the autumn, Haaland would convert these 100-percent goals with his eyes closed. This time, however, he failed and instead of going 2-0 up for the Citizens, Nottingham equalised just before the end to 1-1.

Manchester City are two points behind Arsenal again, the Gunners have a game in hand. The battle for the title will be extremely interesting.
