Manchester United are enjoying a huge signing, with new signing Casemiro arriving at Old Trafford. The dream defensive midfielder that fans didn’t even dare to think about just a week ago. What will the line-up look like with him?

Casemiro is a bulldog, a warrior and one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. He does a tremendous amount of black work on the pitch, is excellent at taking balls away, covering dangerous areas and also blocks a bevy of shots.

Apart from his visible footballing qualities, his leadership skills and winning mentality are also important. Thanks to all this, United did not depreciate to pay 80 million euros for the 30-year-old Brazilian.

The big advantage of Casemiro is the fact that he will take the job of a defensive midfielder on his own, there is no need to play two shields as the Red Devils currently do with Fred and McTominay. This is the pairing that fans would prefer to never see again.

Casemiro, after all, has been backing up Modric and Kroos for years, who are not defensive experts by any stretch of the imagination, and it worked. The same layout is currently on offer with Chris Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes.

Manchester United’s ideal line-up:

De Gea
Dalot – Varane – Martinez – Shaw
Casemiro
Eriksen – Fernandes
Rashford – Ronaldo – Sancho

This is slowly taking an interesting shape. But United still need to strengthen, at least in attack. This trio currently has no replacement, only the oft-injured Tony Martial, who hasn’t been in any form in recent years anyway, and young Anthony Elanga.

And then there is the uncertain future of Cristiano Ronaldo, which would mean another big problem. Ideally, United should still strengthen the right edge of defence and theoretically the centre of midfield, where only McTominay and Van de Beek are on the bench.
