What will happen to the talented Belgian? De Ketelaere has no takers after tragic season, AC has only one option
The biggest investment of last summer, that’s exactly what Charles de Ketelaere means for AC Milan. The biggest investment of last summer, that’s exactly what Charles de Ketelaere means for AC Milan. But the young Belgian offensive midfielder, who was supposed to be a star, was in fact a big disappointment. So the Rossoneri tried to sell him in the summer transfer window, but found no takers for a permanent transfer. What’s next?
As one of the biggest talents in Belgian football, Charles de Ketelaere transferred to AC Milan last August. From Bruges for 35 and a half million euros.
After the necessary acclimatisation, everyone expected the 22-year-old Belgian to pick up his performance in the red and black jersey. But even after one full season in Milan, nothing like that happened.
De Ketelaere has not scored a single goal in 32 league games, notching only one successful assist. And that’s punishingly little for a player that the Italian big club came out for such a sum.
We have covered the situation of the Bruges native in more detail in a previous article, where, for example, the Belgian league factor is also mentioned.
After a truly disastrous season, AC wanted to sell him already in this transfer window. But as the Italian transfer specialist Calciomercato reports, no serious bidders have shown up as far as a permanent transfer is concerned.
So the Rossoneri have one last option in front of them – a guest appearance. However, Dutch portal ed.nl claims that PSV representatives are pushing for the aforementioned option.
Will De Ketelaere move to PSV?
The Eindhoven outfit would reportedly include an option for a permanent transfer at the end of the season in the away deal. If the 22-year-old midfielder were to leave already this season, the Rossoneri would demand around €30 million for the potential transfer.
But unfortunately for AC, after a tragic season, this alternative is rather unrealistic. Thus, a loan move to PSV seems like the best option at the moment. And if the ever-promising footballer does well, he would regain not only his confidence but also his original price tag.
