The Champions League is finally back. Tonight, the gates of the most prestigious club competition will open again, and at least for a while, for the last time in the form of the main groups. What to look forward to tonight?
Group of Death
Every season there is a group of death. These are 3 or even 4 teams that are fairly evenly matched and claim a chance to qualify. This year’s draw has thrown such a group into “efka”.
PSG from the first basket, Dortmund from the second, AC Milan from the third and Newcastle from the fourth. The two biggest favourites to qualify will play each other today, Dortmund are going to Paris, but AC Milan and Newcastle won’t want to be left behind.
It will be interesting to see how the teams handle it. If you want, you can catch both games, as the game in Milan is at 18:45 and the game in Paris is at 21:45.
Czech participation
If you would like to see a Czech player in the Champions League, set your eyes on Rotterdam. Feyenoord will play Celtic and have Ondrej Lingr in their squad.
The ex-Slavic all-rounder has come off the bench twice so far, assisted a goal for the first time, and scored on his home debut after 40 seconds on the pitch. Will he do it again in the Champions League?
S’ scouts against the LM winner
Manchester City open their defence with a duel against CZ Belgrade. At first glance, not an interesting duel, but the Serbian side will bring two players well known to Czech fans to the Etihad Stadium.
Former Spartan midfielder Guélor Kanga, who has scored 31 goals in 2 and a half seasons in the red jersey, and Peter Olayinka, historically Slavia’s top scorer in European Cups.
All Tuesday’s LM matches:
AC Milan – Newcastle 18:45
Young Boys – Leipzig 18:45
Barcelona – Antwerp 21:00
Feyenoord – Celtic 21:00
Lazio – Atlético Madrid 21:00
Manchester City – CZ Belgrade 21:00
PSG – Dortmund 21:00
Shakhtar – Porto 21:00
