The weekend’s 14th round of the Premier League is barely over and the next round starts on Tuesday. Our weekly series on what’s happening in England deserves an insert article too, this time we take a look at Liverpool of Jürgen Klopp, Brighton and visit Birmingham.

Winning mentality of Klopp squad

You lead, the opposition equalise, you lead, they equalise again and then even turn the tide in the 80th minute. Throw in the towel? Don’t use that term with Jürgen Klopp team. Liverpool buckled at home against Fulham and gave a reminder of the turnaround against Barcelona.

The Reds did the same thing they did a week ago – come back in a seemingly lost game. Perhaps even more important than the turnaround against Fulham with two goals in the space of three minutes is the draw at the Etihad. It proves that Liverpool are strong even away from a raucous Anfield.

Considering how cheaply the Citizens throw away well-played games, even in the face of Arsenal’s often lacklustre performances, Liverpool’s title hopes are growing every week. And that’s thanks to Klopp’s experience of the rigours of the Premier League.

A real test for the home champions

Aston Villa disappointed again away from home, drawing 2-2 at Bournemouth, with the Villans losing twice, is simply not enough from a Champions League aspirant. They are the only ones at home who haven’t lost a point yet, yet that’s enough for a mere fourth place.

Only three wins from the past 12 away games is an exclamation mark, although Unaie Emery’s charges now have other worries. They can once again push the streak of 13 home league wins in a row. And it will be a real test – Manchester City at Villa Park on Wednesday, then Arsenal on Saturday.

Brighton’s narrow squad

When a tired Brighton took on Chelsea with five players under the age of 22, four of whom were even teenagers, few believed in points. The Seagulls didn’t really take those in the end, with Jack Hinshelwood or Facundo Buonanotte showing that they are not mere talents to fill gaps in the squad in absences.

Brighton lost the game at Stamford Bridge due to the absence of Lewis Dunk, offensively the visitors were interesting anyway and with a bit of luck could have easily drawn. In the winter, even with a view to qualifying for the spring part of the Europa League, they will need to strengthen, but wisely. The youngsters really deserve space in this case.
