Football jerseys are one of the main symbols for football clubs and national teams. When a change has to be made, it is often very difficult to accept.
As it happens in modern football, big brands like Nike, Adidas and Puma issue a new set of jerseys to their teams and the clubs they sponsor every season. It will be no different in the 2022/2023 season.
The change will also affect the Czech national football team, for whom Puma makes the jerseys. An alleged design of the home jerseys in red has appeared on Twitter.
It is possible that this is just a hoax, but the source is relatively verified and not too wrong in their jersey predictions.
Public reaction
What is the public reaction to this proposal? Very contradictory! Some fans like the proposal a lot, while others criticize it. However, most of them agree on one thing, the design of the new jersey reminds them of the retro style.
“The idea itself is not bad, on the contrary. But the logo is unnaturally huge. I like retro, I liked it when Nike did a whole retro collection of third jerseys, I think it worked a bit better there, but we’ll see how it looks on the players,” wrote Simon.
“What have we done to who? Hockey, now football, although it’s been dragging on since Puma took over,” commented Martin Mach.
“Beautiful retro. I’m a bit scared of the number on the front, but combined with shorts and leggings it could be a real hit. I hope they get the font right,” tweeted Michal Kotukov.
“Well, it’s horrible again, with this type of collar there’s no question of the logo in the middle, which I think is unnecessarily big. The Puma logo should be higher,” criticised TONY.
