Club football won’t return to the scene until early April, so after this weekend we will have to watch exclusively national team matches, except for the lower competitions.
Some people are looking forward to this time, some are not, but there are many attractive matches to come. First, let’s take a look at the ones our national teams will play.
The nineteen will face the 2nd stage of the European Championship qualification, and in the first match of the group stage they will challenge Croatia on Wednesday 22 March. Three days later they will play against Portugal and three days after that against Sweden. Only the first team will qualify.
We can also look forward to our 21. The Lionesses have qualified for the summer European Championship and now they will face tough friendly matches. On Friday at 6 pm they will challenge Belgium, then on Monday the Netherlands.
Last but not least, there will be two senior national team matches. Coach Jaroslav Šilhavy’s team enters the Euro qualifiers with a match against Poland on Friday, followed by a game in Moldova on Monday.
But let’s take a look at the matches that do not feature the Czechs. Fans are probably most looking forward to Thursday’s qualifying match between Italy and England. Matches between these teams often end in a draw, with England last beating Italy in 2012.
France and the Netherlands or Belgium and Sweden will face each other in the qualifiers a day later. Both matches are played at the same time as our selection, from 20:45. On Saturday, we don’t expect many interesting matches, but an hour before midnight Morocco plays a friendly match with Brazil.
On Monday we will have Ireland vs. France, Tuesday will offer Scotland vs. Spain and Turkey vs. Croatia. After that, club football will be back in full swing.
