What did Slavia show? Wasted chances, defensive errors and an incredible amount of turnovers
Slavia only drew with Sivaspor 1:1, and it is unbelievable that this match ended in a draw. The Sevivans had several chances, but they failed to solve them properly and took only a point from Turkey.

Missed chances
Probably the most striking thing that the match of Slavia showed. Sešivaní threw away several chances, but rather than not getting there, they chose the wrong solutions. Several times the players were too hasty, sometimes they slept through the right moment, and in the end it resulted in 14 blocked shots.
Often they didn’t finish situations again, if Olayinka had reacted earlier to Ewerton’s header back in front of goal, he would have cleared into an empty net. Towards the end of the second half it was already a crunch, with Provod missing the ball properly from a penalty and Tecl hitting the side netting from the line instead of returning it underneath his completely free teammates. The missed penalty put the crown on everything.
Mistakes in defence
Another big aspect of yesterday’s game. Slavia made big mistakes defensively, the first goal came from a 3v5 situation, Masopust couldn’t guard a charging player at all.
Even the next breaks after the mistakes of Sivasspor smelled unpleasantly, fortunately Sivasspor did not solve them correctly.
Losses
If you looked at Petr Ševčík or David Douděra after the game, they must have been absolutely wrung out. Because it’s in midfield and on the becks that you take the most away when the game spills from one side to the other. And that’s exactly what was happening because of the incredible number of turnovers.
Of course, the terrain wasn’t ideal, but that’s no excuse. Slavia hasn’t made so many unforced errors, dropped passes and loose balls in maybe 3 games.
Olayinka is not a striker
Even though it’s a bit of a paradox – Peter Olayinka scored his 12th goal for Slavia in Europe, and together with Tomas Dosek is the best scorer for Sšiovan in European Cups – it’s still obvious that he’s not a top striker.
As we mentioned above, he doesn’t have the attitude of a striker and the instinct of a killer in the whitewash, otherwise he would have finished Ewerton’s header. In the first half, Doudere appeared in the whitewash, but Olayinka as a striker was again nowhere to be found and the Slavia back finally shot.
As he’s used to playing more from the wing, he wants to get involved in the midfield, but then he misses in the whitewash. Probably a good choice for a match against a heavy team as a pressing and onrushing striker, but for a match against a weaker opponent you are conquering he is a pity on the tip.
