Sor will play on the tip
A week ago in Istanbul, Yira Sor played most of the game in a two-man attack with Peter Olayinka, this time operating alone with the spike. And he certainly didn’t lose his way, which is not only confirmed by the two goals he scored.
Sor’s runs behind the defence were extremely dangerous, at 3:1 the Seychellois played the “kick it forward and Sor will find it” style and it worked. Excellent ball work, graceful movement, such a player Slavia lacked!
Plavsic shines in midfield
Srdjan Plavsic may have had the most stable form of the Slavija squad since the start of the spring. He has been a reliable substitute at left-back and now the coaching staff is putting him in the centre of midfield. And the Serbian all-rounder is filling the hole left by Nicolae Stancio well.
Thursday’s rematch was Plavsic’s best game in a red and white jersey. He had a very good turn on goal, distributing accurate passes through the Turkish defence, the only thing missing was a goal.
The emotional support helped a lot
The work of the fans cannot be overlooked either. The North Stand supported their Ukrainian players Taras Kacharaba and Maksym Talovyorov, chanting their names before and after the game. Before the opening whistle, even Karel Kryl’s song – Bratříček, zavítej vrátka – was played through the stadium.
A good backdrop for the whole ninety minutes drove the players to a heroic performance, Slavia has not played anyone in Europe this year so sovereignly. They could have scored eight goals, but three were enough to win.
