Pilsen, Slavia and Sparta will start their seasons this week, qualifying for the Champions League and the Europa League respectively. But other Czechs will also play, three even for the Champions League. What should you not miss in the busy match schedule?
On Wednesday night, other Czech players will be in action alongside the Victorians. Tomas Vaclik should be among the three poles in the second round of the Champions League, Olympiakos will play Maccabi Haifa, who won and lost once against Slavia a year ago.
The Hungarian-Slovak derby between Ferencváros and Slovan Bratislava will also be closely watched. The home side will be the favourite, while Jaromir Zmrhal, a member of the national team’s wider squad, will be on the away side. The match will start right after the end of the Helsinki vs. Pilsen match.
Wednesday will be really busy, as Fenerbahce Istanbul is still playing. Although he hasn’t played much in the last six months, Filip Novak is still a member of the team. He came off the bench in the preparation, let’s see if he gets a chance in the Champions League.
Puskás Academy has a very difficult job ahead of them. The Hungarian club will take on Guimaraes of Portugal in the second round of the Conference Europa League. Midfielder Patrizio Stronati should not be missing from the line-up.
Let’s briefly forget about the Czech players and take a look at the Conference League, where the qualification is really tough and cruel. One hesitation and it’s over. Already the second preliminary round will offer some interesting pairs.
The 2020/21 Europa League quarter-finalist Molde will challenge Sweden’s Elfsborg in the Scandinavian derby, while the confrontation between Rapid Vienna and Poland’s Lechia or the match between Pogon Szczecin and the 2020/21 Danish champion Brondby Copenhagen could also be interesting.
